The quality of both of these breeds combined into one package makes a
superb companion with excellent health. They are also "user friendly",
that is, they shed much less than purebred Labs, and can be adopted by
families who have concerns about their pets and shedding. There is no
guarantee as to the coat type in the first generation cross, but
shedding is generally much less than a Labrador Retriever. The F1
Labradoodle's coat can be rather straight and wavy, almost as curly as a
poodle's, or anything in between. They are different in lengths,
thickness and textures. The coats can change quite a lot as they grow
from puppy hood to an adult dog. F1B, second generation Labradoodles,
have a more predictable coat type; generally very low to no-shedding.
