American Hairless Terriers are a true
American Breed. The first one was born to a pair of Rat Terriers
in the mid 70’s and from the efforts of a few dedicated breeders
we now have a breed recognized by the UKC and in the future, AKC.
It has been discovered that the AHT is an excellent choice for
those suffering with allergies. There are many heart-warming
stories on the Internet of family’s having the joy of dog
ownership for the first time in their lives. They are a hardy
small dog that has many bonuses. You will never have hair on
your furniture…no fleas to deal with and your own hot water
bottle in bed. Because of the lack of hair, they do need
clothing in the cold winter months and until they get a tan will
need to be monitored in the sun with the first days of summer.
They do well in all types of family structures and are very
quick learners. Because they are directly related to the Rat
Terrier, they have the same wonderful happy outgoing attitude
and are willing to play hard or be couch potatoes.
The AHT comes in many different colors and patterns and range
from solids to piebalds.
If you Goggle American Hairless Terrier you will find a wealth
of information.
My first litter was born March 7th 2007 and will be ready for
their new homes May 2nd, 2007. They will be wormed, have their
first shots and be registered. Both parents are GR CH and have
had health screenings. |
